Hi, Found your forums last week. Looks good here.

Bought a black pre-reg VXR8 exactly 2weeks ago. Standard auto. Auto box is growing on me but still miss manual. This car is turning heads constantly.

Sorry, I just bought a private plate today (wife's idea... my wallet:rolleyes:).
letter, number, space, VXR = just the right size to fit the front bumper.

Next purchase = Walkinshaw Power Pack £1791 +25hp to 30hp (Remap, BMC + Exhaust). I hate the standard tiny quad pea shooters + non-existant tone. Pls Advise me... go for it?

Future may Supercharge (maybe 2y time).
Wife says Tint the Windows with executive light all sides + rear. (2 previous cars were tinted).

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Cracking choice of car and mods! If you think it turns heads now, spec the loud Walkinshaw exhaust, sounds fantastic, just not sure how family friendly it is, though they do a quieter version too.

Mine's also the auto but I spend most time using the manual selector as I can't resist the exhaust note in the lower gears! :D

Welcome to the fold!!

Try the Wortec stuff before your buy also. They have a switchable exhaust system, CAI, remap etc etc etc.

Slightly better value than the WP stuff, check youtube for some clips.

Thanks for the welcomes...

My insurance just called 30min ago and said I am not allowed to upgrade untill I done a year in the car  even if its a puny 25bhp rofl. They said however I can upgrade the exhaust cat back NP as it's just for sound.

must be the step up from ST220 to VXR8 double hp. They don't listen that I have family so not gonna be hooligan-ing around in it.

129 I Think You Will Agree That The Quality And Look Of The Wortec Looks Far Superior Than Any Other Vxr8 Exhaust:)

Good choice of car and colour (not to sure about the auto bit) and finishing it off with some Wortec gear is a must........

Hi,

If you can make it up to Thorney Motorsport on the 15th December you can listen to each system and make your own mind up!

Wondering is the Wortec exhaust system with Quiet and Loud Elec. switch approved by Vauxhall Warrenty peeps? I wouldn't mind the Electric switch idea coz if the babies are alseep it would help, daylight? lol stuff it... switch to LOUD !!!

Otherwise I will go for the Walkinshaw one.

You have options, the Warranty would be honoured by the tuner, so on a wortec system if anything went wrong you would go back to them, same with walkinshaw I believe.

In your position the chance to switch to a quiet system may be really useful, I met Bob on Saturday who has this system on his vxr8, it sounds fantastic for sure, but not quite as loud as the walkinshaw, it's like thunder unleashed! I'm sure everyone who's heard mine will back that up :D

If you can make it to TMS on the 15th, you can hear both and decide.

Yes you need to hear both.

I met a guy with a silver VXR8 (supercharged) at Monkfish Performance and he said he was going to get the WP one but changed his mind after a spin in mine. hehehe :o

What ever you get it must be better than the :expletive deleted: fitted as standard.

Problem is I Live 3hours drive from Manchester on the A1 route, also have to work on that weekend.

A WP cat back can be fitted at Bristol Street easy where I Live. The Wortec which I prefer with an Electric switch is further than Manchester. If I get it done my wife + kid will come down with me for the drive, then the wait for it to be fitted then all the way back up North.

"The noise it makes is a sort of, well... imagine Sesame Street's Cookie Monster gargling through Spinal Tap’s 11-strength speakers in the Whispering Gallery at St. Paul’s and you’ll be about halfway there. It’s a very angry noise but a brutally beautiful one and, if every V8 sounded like it, nobody would ever buy any other engine configuration."

That's interesting! I assume they went for the loud 'Supercar V8' version then :D

Stop it, do you have any idea how tempting that SC is!! I have to keep telling myself no. no. no.. But I fear it's a battle I'm going to lose in the end! :D

And why does autocar keep thinking a standard 8 takes 5 and a half seconds to 60?

Must be some sort of poof then!

Followed a WP SC car in my van and it aint a fast car or may be the oil coming out from the exhaust was not helping:rolleyes:

Just keeping an eye out.

http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=10658

Sorry to bring back this thread but I would be gratefull if someone can Video and make sound recording on thier mobile-phones of both Wortec and Walkinshaw (quiet) Exhausts on 2 seperate cars with similar engine set up, keeping the phone 2m away from car's rear end when recording and get them to do similar idle, rev 2000, idle, rev 3000, idle, rev 4000, idle and then mess about reving. Then if someone else can do same again but for the LOUD version of both exhausts with simialr engine set up..

I know it's asking a lot but if there is someone willing to do it, it would help me alot in choosing the right exhaust sooner.

I have to work all weekend so can't make it.

Hope u all have a great time there.

Phone won't do this justice, I'll take my camcorder and make high quality recordings of both on the dyno's and in the car park revving (if Bob agrees!), don't think anyone has the quieter Walkinshaw, but you'll only get an idea of the difference in sound, not really the volume this way.

Anyway, thought you'd settled on the switchable Wortec? Makes sense with you little one and baby on the way!

I heard the Wortech Quiet + Loud video on utube and some others exhausts, including ones on this forum but want to make sure.

Temptation is that WP is £1.1k fixed sound but down the street litrally to get fitted at local Vox. Wortec, I have 3hours drive at least down the A1 and then I would be happy to get £1.7k switchable with Electric Switch.

I can't make my mind up...
