I am a big VXR supporter and get to see them at most BTCC meetings. The team done an amazing job to have the Vectra not only ready for the '07 season but to have such a great package that showed over the Seat team who had at least a 12 month head start over 888.

At the moment i am writing a document that will be passed to the Luton based team. I have a friend in the team who has said the ideas will be passed to the relevent people, to try and improve the teams off the track image, so that us the fans have a say in what we want to try and feel more involved in the team. I have alot of ideas of my own and have also talked to other VXR supporters at the race meetings and got some good ideas.

I want to hear from any VXR supporters that think the team can offer you something to feel more involved. So please use this thread to give me feed back or email me with your ideas and i can include them.

Hope to hear from your soon!

Agree with big screen, but they are expensive (£4k a day per screen). As regards track time, good luck, racing costs (average) £1 per minute per car (assumes 20 car grid) so it wont be cheap, however at the same time whilst watching 100 VXR's go round the track would be fun for us for the SEAT fans it would be a bit dull?

BTCC cars are about as far removed from the road cars as is possible, they use 2l normally aspirated engines not the standard motors, and are nothing like the car you drive on the road, even the ECU's are sent to France for programming, they run sequential boxes so hardly what you'd be able to tick on an options list.

What about a race series that actually races the cars you drive like Corsa and Astra VXR's with modifications you can actually buy for your own cars, and how about free hospitality for these races, and paddock access mingling with the team rather than a corp winnebago with carpet and what about competitions to be pit crew for the day or team clothing, or even drives and passenger rides in the race cars......oh hang on, wrong series, that would be the Dunlop Sportmaxx series that we run 4 cars in next year, perhaps thats worth a look?:)

In seriousness, I love BTCC and we plan to be there in 2010 (perhaps 2009 if we get the budget) but Sportmaxx does offer what you want in terms of presentation, access and fun, worth a look IMO.

They do alot for VXR owners with the free driver entry to selected BTCC races which must cost them a fair whack

Oh yeah, not knocking Vxl at all, but the questions was about the series itself not Vxl's support thereof.

Last year Vauxhall ran the track days to try and sell the VXR brand. I finally made my mind up to go for the VXR from the day at Brands. Tom Chilton was doing rides that day for us punters – now that was a heck an extra on the day but I thought Vauxhall missed out by not making more of the VXR racing side of things. Some special events for VXR owners only with track rides, meet the team, you know, arm chair racer stuff... support the brands stuff

Track days for current owners would be nice....at a cost of course.

Track days sound a nice idea but we ran one last year and only half a dozen VXR's went on track. We lost over £3500 on that day so its not a decision to be taken lightly.

I'd love to run another one but I can't afford to lose sums like that!

Id defiantely be up for a track day, depending on days / locations as i am doing one very soon.

But you will find there are a lot of people that wont want to take their own cars on track.

Send me a direct email if you do ever run a VXR track day – I wouldn't want to miss it :D

No problem, just get a new sticker every year, eventually it would be:

"BTCC Manufacturers Champions: '92, '01-'05, '07-Forever"

:D

Then some kind of phrase like Seats, eat my dust, at the end would be fitting.

Well Croz agree with the many comments that it is a balance of resources for what the team can give. But off the race track image ~ Well i do my best with the wife and I both having VXRacing fleeces, and I have a VXRacing rain coat (gets a lot of use at this time of year!). Clearly the window stickers are a good idea, although with darkened rear windows its hard to see the one I have
At the race day, many tracks have the pits unavailable except for the viewing. Rockingham I like as the pits are accessable. So for the tracks with limited access perhaps a bit more of a show stand near the VX Drivers Lounge and merchandise lorry to show the teams work a little more (at this point think that some of the other teams / sponsors have stands like this ~ Team Halfords/RAC, etc.)
