I got the ring of death two days after I bought my first xbox! Had spent countless hours staright playing and the shop were trying to get me to return the hard drive, tool ages to convince them that it wasn't gonna happen!!

I've personally done the towell trick.

It does work, and tbh doesn't get that hot.

Gotta make sure you allow it a good hour to cool down afterwards, but mine has been fine since.

I know Microsoft have extended the ring of death warranty to 3 years now....

brother got the ring of death but iv never had it luckily, dont get a ps3, not as good and thats not biased as we got both.

apparently xbox have extended warranty up to 3 years on all xbox's so take it back

rang xbox up and sum1 pickd it up from ups so it on its way to hospital. they giving me 3months xbox live membership for messing about, just an empty space under my tv now. ps3 are poor!

i just got a ps3 for free:D. should be delivered in a couple a days, then i'll have 2 xbox360's and a ps3, so i will have to try the cod4 on the ps3;), show you lot how to play it :lol:, at least i can make my mind up which i think is best for me:).

if that,s the case then why do microsoft charge u for playing online cos all they want is more money from ya and why do they put the ring of death in the machine cos they want more money allthey want is money sony is customer based then profits second and i thought u said xbox was out selling ps3 not according to this yrs figures sony has sold 30% more console than xbox at the end off the day u like ur xbox i like ma ps3 its personal choice but i still think the 360 is a piece off outdated crapand it will be lucky if xbox last another 5 yrs\\:D/\\:D/:D

My kids has gone for the second time, originally lasted 18 months and now 5 months later its gone again.
I just can't believe the timing though as the first time it went in the kids six week holiday and then this time it went on Boxing day just after he'd had his new games which he's obviously hardly played.

Good job I brought the eldest his PS3 but sadly only a couple of games.

Microsoft are offering a good will gesture this time of a game or an accessory for the second Ring of death, I'm just hoping they offer a new 360 when it goes for the third time. Should be due back anyday.

My preference for what its worth would be to the 360 mainly due to the online gaming of the old Gears of War :cool:

Whoever it was that said keep it clean and in plenty of space - it was on both counts so count yourself lucky as I once thought we were, it will go eventually.
