View Full Version : Trackday, Goodwood 2009

Thinking about investigating the possibility of an organised track day at Goodwood for the members of this Forum. Goodwood is one of the only curcuits in the country ungoverned by FIA regulations, making it one of the only places where VXRs can truly stretch their legs. My car achieves speeds in excess of 150MPH along the back straight at goodwood, I have not managed to get near that kind of speed on other the more popular curcuits. For now just gauging interest, track day would most likely be mid week some time in May 2009, 100db limit so wortecs on monaros set to quiet please. Suggestions for organisation of the day most welcome, numbers probably limited to 40, running 10 minute sessions of 10 cars per session. I fear it wont be as cheap as anywhere else and would expect the day to cost approx £250each, but its a superb curcuit and that lack of governance is worth the money.

Noise limits? because that would dictate what car I ran

just out of interest whats the benefit of being out of the FIA regs? Basicaly means that this track is faster because no do goody Health and Safety types have stuck their noses in. Its where the Festival of speed is held - Guess Why ? If the Chicane was not positioned at the beginning of the start finish straight spactating at this curcuit would be rather boring as everthing would be going at 100 or more all the time.

Noise limits? because that would dictate what car I ran Quite strict here with the noise testing, seen many cars refused on the day, can stretch to 110db I think but it puts the cost of the day up as the track is limited to how often it can run over the 100db level.
Sound measured at 75% of the shown redline, you might not want to mention where your true redline actually is

Make it open pit lane its loads betterhttp://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s184/simontaxi/Picture013.jpg I agree carmad, for most curcuits, this one is a bit different. 1.You are going very quickly 2. More than 10 Minutes at these kinds of track speeds in road cars is not good for the car. 3.Reduces the chances of accidents at this ungoverened track.

Of course a TMS stage three probably couldnt hack it !!!
Those four pots would be burnt out and those coilovers would need constant adjustment, hire a corsa for the day !!!

I'll probably be up for this if I haven't moved house by then.
I live pretty close to Goodwood, so could probably have a few people staying over night if you've got a long way to travel.

That's not too far away is it? Somewhere near Arundel.
Was there any reason for leaving the race meet until next year?

NO just the amount of time it takes to organise, trackdays are few and far between at goodwood and damned expensive when compared to any other curcuit, but the curcuit is superb to drive, perhaps a little flat, but very very quick !!!

only serious work done was full race suspension/brakes and a driver with no fear factor at the entry/exit of sear corner.carry the speed through sear and your top speed down revett straight rises considerably.as for entry line to the esses, there are actually three.it's up to the individual which one you use,but one is defo quicker in/out than the others.
