V6 Estate
12th May 2008, 07:00 PM
Hi all
Just a quick note on this afternoon @ Oulton Park :D:D:D Top afternoon well worth the cash \\:D/\\:D/
Started with registration then drinks, Lunch served with pud :D
Split into 2 groups we silver group ours included Me, Ezzstate, Les, Moeman and Matty (great to catch up and meet new folks), we were first on the autotest i went out first on the slalom i was quickest :D until moeman had a go  well done but you should have won with all that driver training you do ;):D
What a nutty driver paul swift is :D:D
Then off out on track some of the instructors wouldn't let me press the sports button :( most did \\:D/
Had a good drive in the Corsa, Astra, Vectra Both and VXR8 :D:D:D
Would have been better if the VXR8 had a supercharger on ;)
Ending with a high speed lap with British GT Driver James Pickford's last 1 of the day in the astra he is metal we were on the grass coming out of druids :o:o which left me depositing my lunch in the middle of the pitlane :mrgreen::mrgreen:
How are you feeling Les ;)
At the end of the day you get a VXR keyring, VXR Bag and Pic of yourself in a VXR all for £95 BARGIN

Hi Chris, just got in and logged on, feeling fine now but know how you felt after a mental flying lap!
Just had my favourite 'Asian mixed grill, nan and pint' for a £5 in West Bromwich on the way home, so all in all a great day.
See you soon, Les and Sue.

British Touring Car Professional Drivers in AstraVXR's out to impress, more warp factor than MPH, but 'F' Fast for sure, lapping all us wannabe's, great fun.
I myself struggled to hit the ton and they were coming past me like I wasn't trying :!:

A grand day out, nice to meet you all, and I am really sorry that I set fastest times for both the slalom events :D
The demo drives show just how fast you can be around the circuit, though spent most of the lap [-o< - not really, had a good conversation all the way round, top lads.
Loved the way at the briefing we were told to stay off the kerbs then encouraged to do the opposite by the co drivers.
Told by Paul O'Neil that the demo drivers are getting two Burgs to use from Wednesday.

Dave your just a shark, but it was nice to watch those cars perform in the hands of a trained professional, us mere mortals could only stand and take the pi**.
Lovely to meet you and your mates, I think a great day was had by all.

What a brilliant day
Just got home from the morning session at Oulton on the 14th
Glad we took our camera , got some good pictures and also some half decent video footage from the camera
Really enjoyed the fast lap in the burg with Paul O'Neil , that was breath taking
Trina got picked to be Paul Swift's passenger in the finale
Took some video footage of this ( not the best quality as it was done with a digitial camera )

Nice pic's and vid's Trinandlee, we didn't have any two wheel passenger rides on Monday afternoon because Paul had twisted the diff during the morning session, but Paul never missed a beat and made NO contact during our display so thats rare footage you have there. Many thanks for posting them.
Happy Birthday for yesterday.

Dont know for sure what tyres he had on the rims but they were not the standard low profiles, seemed to have walls 4-6" high!

Thank you Les
Has anyone been to one of these vxr trackdays last year ? If so was this year a repeat of last year , or if there was something different what was it

Last year the off track activities were done on the loop by the lake, we had a go at the parallel parking and there was just one timed run through cones.
As a result of the loop being used we had a shorter run around the track.
The goodie bag was better, it inc a polo shirt.
Overall this year was a lot better.

As Moeman says, the general set up was similar (I did Donnington) but they tried to make a few changes/improvements to keep it fresh.
Because last year was unknown it was 'great joy' where as this year I knew what to expect, was remembered by some of the staff from last year, and was more relaxed so therefore enjoyed it all the more, plus being on this site and meeting up with Chris and Erica (V6 Estate) and Dave (Moeman) and his friends made it all the more fun/better.
Next year (can't wait) should be even more fun, think I'll maybe dress up as a girl to get to dance with Paul Swift lol

A great day all round and well worth the moneyIt was nice to meet you guys too. I was pretty gutted that Paul would only pick a female for that passenger ride - looked awesome fun!
I had a fantastic day and will definitely book in again next year. Just sorry that I missed out on the fast lap but I won't make the same mistake again :)

I went last year and went to Oulton Park last week (and Brands Hatch later today)
There were some differences.
Last year : Got a really nice pack through the post - plastic wallet with VXR booklets in it with the VXR Track Day Ticket.
This year : Just got an email that needed printing out and taking to the venue
Last year : Got a really nice goodie bag with VXR T-Shirt, VXR Key-ring and bits and bobs...
This year : Just got a bag full of brochures and a VXR Key-ring
This year : Paul Swift was doing 2 wheel flips in an Astra and taking passengers with him  ... but the astras kept breaking the drive shafts :expletive deleted:
This year : In addition to the Auto-Test competition, they also added a slalom test
Still worth EVERY PENNY. Great day out
