I think you will find that the costs were so much due to problems with tuners and the fixes thereof; I'm not suggesting anyone is at fault, but the costs of £20k do not reflect a "normal" stage 5...........its a long story thats best dropped, (its well documented on VX220.org) however I wanted to mention it as your statement is out of context really, if you are not aware of the history

I wouldn't say it's out of context because if it needed 20 grand spending on it to get it fixed for what ever reason the best thing would of been to drive the thing off a cliff and then give the nodding dog a call.

5 litre V10 pure BMW power or a vauxvall I know which one i'd take, and that's coming from someone who owns a vauxhall

I guess it is horses for courses.
I had an Elise the best handling car I had ever driven... but gutless. Then I had an Esprit V8 which had the power I was looking for but not the handling.
Thr VXR seemed a good compromise. I had only planned to spend 8.5k on the mods but I was led a merry dance of unforfillable promises - Hence the extra spend at another tuner.
My wife has a Porsche Cayenne which is fine for carting the kids and all our bikes around fairly swiftly (and in the wet too), so we don't really need another heavy vehicle. I like the rawness of a 900kg car with high performance.
It's horses for courses, I guess. I know there has been a tough and expensive journey to get there and that has taken the shine off of everything but you know... when the sun is out and roads are winding there are few other cars I would rather be in.
