Just fitted mine today..."Courtenays cool running thermostat".....no instructions and no "how to" on here so this may help anyone wanting to fit one...
It's probably best to fit this when changing the coolant and/or when fitting new coolant hoses as it may be best to drain the coolant first to avoid too much mess..
I first jacked the car up and placed on axle stands...(not absolutely neccessary to do this)
Then I drained the coolant by undoing the red plastic screw at the bottom left of the radiator and placed a bucket to catch the coolant, then undid the cap on the coolant reservoir to allow the coolant to flow, I also flushed it with clean water to get rid of the old coolant.
To make it more accessible to remove the thermostat housing I removed the crossover pipe but this may not actually be necessary. I also removed the 2 hoses that are attached to the thermostat housing but you maybe able to remove the housing with these still attached.

This is the thermostat housing. It is attached by 2 bolts, 1 at the top as you can see in the pic and 1 underneath, remove these 2 bolts. When these bolts are removed you should be able to pull the housing away from the engine and you will see the thermostat inside. Use the cardboard tube to push on the thermostat and twist and it should come out. Simply install the new thermo as you removed the old one. Remove the old rubber seal and apply the seal grease and then fit the seal. Then refit to the engine and fill with new coolant and that's it...job done!!
