This footwell lighting kits are universal fitting so can be fitted to any model car
The wiring of this kit is very easy, you only connect 2 wires for 12volt supply / power source
A similar kit from Honda cost's in excess of £140

The kit consists of following items

* 2 x Strips of flexible 9 miniature ultra bright LED’s complete with sticky backing (RED or BLUE)
* Instructions on how to connect your LED's etc with colour pictures

I provide instructions on where to wire this kit so it illuminates when you open / close your doors or unlock / lock your car
This is that easy to fit I could do it in under 5 minutes so everybody should be able to do it in 15 minutes max

All connections are very easy to connect and access plus no wires are cut
so this can be removed without any damage to your car

Please do not mix these LED Strips Lights up with cheaper products
This is the product I use

These look really really good but a bit bare and poss a bit dangerous.....how are they fitted...are they fitted behind some form of perspex to protect you from the bare board or solder points?

RickHondaR
5th October 2008, 09:53 PM
they are fitted with 3m tape that come provided and just stick into place, they are not in any case / covering as they

1. designed to be used like that
2. only 12v
3. as they are led's they dont get hot

and must point out where you would stick them i could not imagine you touching them by chance

RickHondaR

yes they will dim but not all the way, try watching the video on page 1 of them in my CTR, they work the same wired to the corsa vxr

Do they work for an Astra VXR..same wiring and kit? where are the wires connected to?

will work on an astra vxr but i dont have any instructions so you would have to wire them up yourself, these lights only need 12v to work so just wiring them to the ciggy lighter will work

no good pal the hole idea is when you unlock the doors they light up and when you lock the doors they go out, wiring them to the stereo me thinks does nothing or have i got this wrong, need to be done like in your type r.

dont agree with you mate i have sold more for the new civic than my civic and they wire up to be on in the dark not the doors and most people like it that way more I also have mine to turn them on when dark as well as the doors, each to their own but suspect most prefer them on in the dark rather than just working on the doors like the Corsa VXR instructions

how easy would that be would you need to solder the switch to the wires?

RickHondaR
13th October 2008, 08:27 PM
very easy, i used to do this but stopped to cut costs down, you could even buy a switch and use crimped spades instead of soldering, the question is where would you mount the switch.

I have also just started doing these on the type r
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk271/RickHondaR/DSCF0315.jpg
This dimmer is a manual dimmer (like a volume control) that will dim the LED's from 100% to about 50%, It comes complete with a high quality brushed alloy knob which is a little smaller than a £1 coin

I provide a good length of cable and only require a 6mm hole to mount it, In my opinion i think most people would mount this in a discreet please like the glove box

Cost is an extra £10

So if, for example, you are driving down an empty unlit road, there will be a really bright blue glow coming from the footwell? They do look good but I think they'd need to work just like the standard foortwell lights for me to buy them...

To repeat guys these are VERY VERY easy to fit. Emm if you want the red to be brighter remove the existing bulbs completely rather than putting them back in as the instructions say :D

Now looking at colour changing LED's these will have a switch and they will be in position

1. Red
2. Blue
3. Green

so all you do is flick the switch to the colour you want. Not sure on price as I need to make this and work out the cost but would expect it to be about £45 inc recorded delivery, this will be due to the higher costing LED's, The switch and more time to make the kit.

Here is a sample video of the LED's on the floor
