View Full Version : Standard Insignia but with VXR Styling

Far from a real VXR but I thought I'd ask the question anyway.
I've ordered an Insignia Elite 160 Diesel but with VXR styling. I've read the description of the option i.e. Body-colour front lower spoiler/ side sills/ rear lower skirt. On the saloon model only you also get a rear lip spoiler.
Anyone seen any pictures?
Also, does anyone know which models have the twin exhaust. Can't see it described anywhere on the brochure.

I've got a pic of an Insignia with the kit on.. looks quite sweet acually. Only snag is, i don't have a scanner. Ask to see your dealers product launch book, its got a pic in there. Give them a couple of days though, I just got mine and had to go to Millbrook to get it!

Thanks!!!
Better than I expected. And completely worth the £800 option price :D:D It's only money.
Glad I'm not getting the spoiler though (ordered the hatch) as I'm not too convinced I like it.

The spoiler is standard on all Insignia. Saloons have it integrated into the metal work ,hatch is as per pic.

With the VXR styling they change the spoiler on the saloon. The one in picture looks a lot more pronounced than the standard one.

I think the twin exhaust is being referred to in marketing speak ;) as 'visible exhaust tailpipe'.
Judging from the 'build your own' pictures on the Vauxhall website the SE/SRi/Elite get twin pipes regardless of engine, diesel included?
What colour did you go for? 8)

Sorry didn't read your opening post properly and you're correct.
On the exhausts you will get a visible single exhaust on the 160PS diesel. Twin visible exhausts are on the petrol 2.0 turbo and V6 turbo , the 190PS diesel and 180PS 1.6 turbo will also get them when we introduce these engines later next year.

Thanks Stu. Oh well no twin exhaust then, but guessed as much.
Received a delivery date today of January 30th. Any idea how realistic this is likely to be?

If the dealer has definetely got your order then yours should be in the first production run. Get a sono off them and I can check.

Tried to get the number but the person controlling our fleet is reluctant to ask the dealer (no idea why). All I could get was that the delivery is currently an estimate and the order status is 'Factory ordered'. Thanks anyway.

I'm not 100 per cent sure, but I believe it's Bristol Street in Cheltenham. The car was ordered via Hitachi Capital

Another question. Any idea when an owners manual will be available to download? Especially interested in the new DVD800 Satnav as I couldn't find anything about it online.

I've got the vauxhall press photos of the same car posted above, but I've no idea how to post it on here? Can someone point me in the right direction.
Lathafummi, what delivery date have you been given? Hopefully mine should be end Jan and not any later as the current car is way overdue going back and I'm also impatient!
The DVD manual is good, but doesn't mention a lot about how the USB support works. From what I can see from reading online it only supports up 2GB, but DVD playback of MP3's is supported so not all bad. (I'm sure the VXR mothership will send the DVD manual but I'm happy to help out as well).
If anyone has a PDF of the car manual it would be appreciated I know it exists as the car I test drove had what looked like a hand bound version of it, but no where to be found online yet.)
I'm not sure if it's just me, but I've had little success finding anyone discussing the car online, other than the reviews and odd comments...

Didn't think I kept the link with the VX photos, but found it. Take a look at: http://media.gm.com/servlet/GatewayServlet?target=http://image.emerald.gm.com/gmnews/viewpressreldetail.do?domain=562&docid=49601
Lots of info on the Insignia, but click the link in the top left for more images. You'll see 'some' more but to get more search the GM site for 'Insignia' and the car above is about half way through. Lots of good photos and appears to be updated often.

Thanks for the extra photos of the VXR pack above - looks awsome.
The press pack link has some good shots of the full range of Specs.
Has anyone noticed the Trim badge detail by the side indicators? (eg. "SE, Elite" etc) The Elite one looks unusual with a curvy E not unlike the Euro currency symbol! Not sure I like that (see attached image).
The cars shown in the press shots are:
L2 XXL Red - SE, dark interior trim
L5 VXL Blue - Exclusive (I think?) dark trim - no exterior trim badge though (
L6 VXL Silver - Elite (V6 4x4), beige leather trim
No SRi photos here though! Instead go here for a great looking SRi in White: http://www.gmeurope.info/MOPIDB/searchchangeamount.htm?24
Enjoy! :D

Had a test drive yesterday in a SRi 2.0 Turbo (petrol) but something was catching on the brake discs making a horrible metal noise - we had to turn back to the dealership within 2 mins of setting off. P*ssed off! In that time, I can report back the following:
Interior (standard black cloth) was good but not as sporty as I'd expected from the photos. Hopefully the leather interior will be better. The sports seats were comfy and the extendable front bit of the seat was clever but will be highly prone to catching all those Ginsters crumbs!
You'll also be pleased to know the centre console of the SRI is not as fingermark-prone as the current DESIGN range of Vauxhalls. It was expected that they'd use the same black piano finish but thankfully not. This is a good move - the inside of my Astra Design is covered in greasy fingerprints and looks awful even though it's only 4 months old! It cant be just wiped clean with a rag either - you need to use a spray or damp cloth cos it'll just smear
Engine sounded smooth and cabin noise was quiet but in 2 mins I didnt get to go very fast did I!!
Size of the car wasnt a massive problem as some have made out it to be. I have driven a Volvo S60 and the bonnet of the Insignia wasnt as long.
Rear visibility was definately an issue (as the reviews have suggested for months) because the rear window is so small and the wing mirrors are also much smaller than you'd expect - about the same size as a Ford KA's or a Mini's!
All in all I still want one but not sure if I should stretch to the ELITE model I'm really hoping for instead as you get the lights and all that included, plus discounts are surprisingly high already. SRi buyers - if you can get the leather finish do so, cos the cloth material was pretty dull and didnt meet my expectations.

Ordered the Elite yesterday :)
I have kinda struggled to really like the VXR kit for the Insignia. Not sure it makes it look any better to be honest apart from the side profile. What does everyone else think?

I'm obviously biased as I've ordered the Elite with the kit, but having seen a lot of pictures now I'm still happy I ordered it.
I like the front more with the kit as it looks a bit more aggressive and less rounded. I'll post some pics when I get the car.
