1 month ago i inquired with both my local vauxhall dealer about the VXR8 and with my local bmw dealer about the 335 m sport coupe. i am a vauxhall fan through and through but im not impressed with the response i got. i have called them 3 times now looking for a brochure and their last answer i got was that the VXR8 wasnt launching for a good while yet.they were surprised when i told them that some dealers already had cars in stock. on the other hand the bmw dealer has sent me the brochure, called me to arrange a test drive and sent out a letter thanking me for the inquiry. small wonder bmw sales are doing so well.P.S. i have never had any dealings with the bmw dealer but i have bought 6 vehicles from the vauxhall dealer in the last 3 years including my current vectra vxr and they still cant get me a brochure. rant over.

The thing with the VXR8 is that you really need to go to a specialist dealer... these are not the sort of car the is best suited to the run-of-the-mill dealers.

I assure you that a specialist dealer, who is a member on here, will be along to discuss it with you once he has seen this... Mr Richards!!!

The problem is the same with the Monaro, most dealers think you are talking about the VAN (Movano)

now im back to the problem i had before. im in northern ireland and we did not have any official monaro dealers over here so if the VXR8 is selling through specialist dealers im back where i started. its going to be difficult to even get a test drive in one.i could end up with a bmw yet! heaven forbid

Order through Vauxhall internet? Is that a possibility?

Depends how badly you want one. You know it is fast and rare, so you may have to buy one prior to test drive. I am sure Caspy can order one and it might mean you have to take a day out to come and collect it.

But.. think about it...

You will be the only VXR8 over there, you have something rare and special and people will stop in their tracks for years to look at your beast -which you will obviously be over the moon about. It may seem a lot of effort but the end result is surely worth it.

Or, you could buy a BMW and you would probably be bored within 6 months...

things are starting to look up for me. i have now found a vxr8 dealer here in northern ireland who have a demonstrater in stock for me to get a run in. hopefully i will own one yet. the only glitch is that they could not give me any prices for any of the options, namely the 20s and the sports exhaust.can anybody help me on this?

The prices for the 20" Alloy wheels are 2500. They come straight from Walkinshaws and include new tyres. You would obviously get to keep your old ones.

A customer of mine managed to sell his old ones for 1300!

You might want to contact your dealer.. Charles Hurst is it? To see if any cost implications might occur over posting from Walkinshaws to NI.

Sports exhaust is 1500, this is again a dealer fit option. The ecu is sent off to Walkinshaws, sent back with a remap, air filter and the exhausts.

Make sure you drive a car with the WP exhaust on it as I did and was not impressed.

The 20" wheels are very cool but are of a poor quality of finish so expect to have them refinished within a year.

The wheels are 2500+VAT not inclusive, and the wheels that come off wont fit any other car, unless machined.
