    Exclamation Standard M32 diff question?

My car just started to make a clicking (not whining) noise. Best way to discrib it is like a disposible camera
It gets faster and slower according to the speed of the car and the noise stops if the clutch is fully pressed or car not in gear. 1st thoughts was the standard diff? Anyone got any ideas?

ps getting it checked out in an hour by my mechanic

sounds very gearbox related to me mate, could be several things ie clutch release bearing etc

If you're rolling with the clutch pressed and the problem was differatial related then you'd expect to keep hearing the noise

Hope not gearbox is so much more than a standard diff. Weird how there has been a big increase in gearbox problems recently.

Thats why I thought clutch but I called my mechanic and he said the diff was making a slight noise recently. But I never have any problems getting in gear or slipping, more than likely because I never launch the car lol How ironic

This phantom noise decided to come back. I took it to my mechanic for a quick check/drive and of corse just before I got there it stopped. Now it is back so I did some test of my own until it goes on the ramps. So far this is what i have found:

Makes noise only when in gear, it clicks and doesn't wine.
If in gear and clutch is fully pressed no noise
If out of gear no noise, even if moving, or revving
No problems changing gears, nothing slips
    No boost issues
Noise comes and goes when it wants, I was on a straight road (motorway) with cc on, the noise was there for 10mins then was gone for 20mins etc

Sorry for essay, if anyone has anymore clues that would help, especially with diagnostic cost

Is it worse or does it change in any particular gear? Does it change in speed in different gears? Under acceleration, deceleration?

Same in all gears, gets faster with speed. Slows down if decelerating.
