Default HOW TO-etro-fit CD30 MP3 with AUX Output

This is for upgrading from a standard CD30 to a CD30 MP3 and retro-fitting the 3.5mm jack output.

First off you'll need one of these...

Make sure it has the AUX connections on the back, this will be noted on the wiring diagram on top of the unit.

    Tools needed...

    Stereo removal keys.
    T15 torx screw driver.
    Drill with range of bits.
    Stanley knife.
    Cloth.

You will also need one of these cables...

    AUX - 3.5mm jack plug.

    Available from here.

First off you need to remove the dash, so starting off with removing the cover under the handbrake, this will allow access to the torx screws holding the gear stick surround in place.

Undo these and carefully remove from the dash. You'll need to ease the chrome gaiter trim out of the surround.

Also remove the trim on the rear of the cup holder, this just unclips and pulls upwards to release...

I wanted to fit the plug in the top of the handbrake cover, to look as OE as possible, so drilled a pilot hole first...

Then drilled the hole using larger bits, and carefully square cut the hole to allow for the plug clip.

*** Keep checking the hole inbetween cuts so you don't make it too big***

Now with the hole the right size, feed the cable through and under the handbrake cover...

Up past the OBD port. I un-did the screw for the bracket and fed the cable under to keep it nice and tidy...

Then feed the cable past the gear stick mount, under the ash tray, up behind the heater controls and out through the stereo aperture...

Re-fit the cables in the correct ports, check the top of the head unit to see which cable goes where...

I placed the cloth over the gear knob and into the aperture to reduce the risk of stratches.

Once the wires have been cbale tied in place, re-fit the head unit and test.

If all is well, then re-fit everything in the reverse order.

This is what you should be left with...

    Enjoy.

Only if the oem unit have aux inputs, aux + , - and gnd. You need to check the sticker output label on the unit.

One thing that the OP has not stated, you require Tech2 to get the replacement stereo to work.

Just a quick add on to this, aux can be added to a non aux stero such as cd70.

Did one yesterday, looks of very fine soldering required but it can be done

How did you do this ? Where did you solder it to ? I have a CD30MP3 without Aux option, can it be done to this ?
