Cant beleive it !! wont a dumb A@@ i am lol. Will the rubber be ok thats around the piston i have ripped it quite a bit where i was turning and turning the piston? i think it just helps protect water from getting in the piston?

As long as theres not brake fluid coming out you should be ok. When youve got them fitted press the brake a few times then check the caliper.

you will need a seal kit. With them ripped salt and dirt will get in and the pistons will rust up quite quickly. Will need a replacement caliper then

One thing that will make pushing the piston back easier is to undo the bleed nipple when you turn back the piston, but make sure you have a bleeding bottle on the nipple of fluid will go every where

    Hi,

I changed my brakes (front and rear) a few months ago, and I faced the same issue with brake piston for rear (left) caliber.

My mechanic was totally unable to get the piston back in, so had to buy a new caliper... Maybe a common fault...

Had the same problem with both my rear calipers, to cut a long story short driver side rear is rewound clockwise and passenger side is rewound anticlockwise. My hands where in bits took me two hours to rewind one.
