Default Vauxhall M32 6 Speed Rebuilds

As im sure most of you know the common problems with the Vauxhall 6 Speed box,

The 6 Speed M32 Gearbox is fitted in the following models

    Astra VXR
    Astra SRi turbo 2.0 / 1.6
    Astra 1.9 CDTi 120 / 150bhp
    Corsa VXR
    Corsa SRi Turbo
    Meriva VXR
    Vectra 1.9 CDTi 120 / 150bhp

    Astra 1.3 / 17 CDTi M20 Gearbox, same thing

Also Some Alfa's, Saab and Fiat's

There is a very common issue with these gearboxes, the symptoms can vary, some complain of whining but no movement in the gearstick, and some complain of movement but no whining! but this is what you should be looking out for:

    - When you lift the clutch up in 1st gear, while holding the gearstick, it will move back into you hand, sometimes 10-20mm!
    - When Driving along in 5th and/or 6th, when you come on and off the throttle, the gearstick 'twitches'
compared to 3rd and 4th which will have nothing
    - Whining in 1st, sometimes 2nd, 5th and/or 6th,
-Corsa's (Only) when turning right at 30mph+ you get a what is best described like a disc rubbing noise

The problem with the gearbox that gives all of the above problems, is all down to one bearing - the bearing ontop of 6th gear, The bearing rollers wear which causes the movement in the gearstick, and also pits causing the whining...

The cause is a combination of things, but mainly down to a poor gearbox design, with a undersized bearing for the torque outputs ontop of the 6th gear loading point. What we do is replace the faulty bearing with an Updated bearing and use, what has been recommend by the 'Opie Oils' A better Oil for the gearbox, with a special additive to try and prevent the problem happening again

We have repaired well over 50 of these Gearboxs, Mainly on Astra VXR's

We also Stock New Synchro Hubs, End Casings and Bearings for this Gearbox

The advise is always Catch and Repair it early, as it can only get worse and get more expensive!!

If you leave it too long, the outer bearing race can start to turn, which wears the end casing - meaning you will need a new outter Case. And If you leave it even longer it might actualy punch a hole in the casing!

This is a worse case bearing that I have seen - the bearing just fell apart when the box was removed

    Typical Bearing

    The Cost:

If you bring the car to us, it will be £399 for the complete job - this includes all parts and labour (unless additional work is required)

If you just bring the gearbox itself, it will be £250

The job can be done in one day

    These guys are absolutely AWESOME!

Would recommend them highly. Located not too far from myself, I will certainly be taking my car there any time!

I've also had it, in every gear when driving let off the throttle and the gear stick twitches slightly, back on throttle twitches again.
    I thought that was normal?
It's been in VX with inspections on clutch/box which they said box was fine also my gears never crunch or pop out.
Can say on whining because my car makes too much noise but I've never noticed ote

Pretty sure it's down to the small area of the box and amount going on inside the oil heats up very quickly and boils losing its lubricating/coolin properties damaging the bearings.
That and people slamming it into gears
