    Unhappy Insignia VXR power issue

Hi anyone who reads this. Got and insignia VXR which I've had for about a year and over the last few months the engine management light is on and the power is patchy when accelerating. The turbo either drops off at about 4000rpm or the boost goes up to about 50% when flooring it. It drives fine but the power just isn't there like it was. Been to vauxhall who says it 'could' be timing chains and want 2k and will only give me 70% chance that it'll fix the issue. Any ideas? But more importantly when can I take it as I have no faith in VX main dealers. I'm in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

    Thanks in advance.

    James.

It should be throwing out codes advising what it's related to, could be timing yes, but they should be able to diagnose it and confirm what is actually causing it. Is the car under warranty?

    Not any more

VX have said the codes say its the chains but they aren't convinced, hence the 70% chance it'll work. Ain't taking the risk when I lay 2k on the table.

Are there any VXR specialists in the midlands?

There are some members on here that have done chains before. im sure some of the tuners have done chains on the Insignia before. Might be worth giving WG Motorworks a shout, very highly recommended on here.

I do know Regal and Thorney Motorsport have also changed chains before as well.

If it is a Vauxhall garage your after, id recommend Aston Vauxhall, where abouts in the midlands are ouy? They are close to me luckily, and really helped me out diagnosing an issue on mine.

    Bummer!

Normally, the timing chain issue will send the engine map into limp mode. The boost issues could be down to something else and there have been problems with this in the past. Best advice is to get it to a specialist VXR Dealer; not every Vauxhall Dealer is approved for VXR sales and support. Many of the issues owners have had one here have started out as simple mechanical problems and ended up in tears because of this. The VXR is a complex bit of kit and needs specialist VXR Dealer-support.

If its throwing timing related codes and what has been described I would be a 100% sure chain replacement will sort the problem
