GENERAL MOTORS HOLDEN STING RED F143 1998 - SOLID
GENERAL MOTORS HOLDEN RED HOT F143 2002 - SOLID

Same codes as dale mentions above. Seems it had a name change in 2002.

V8, not for everyone but 10/10 for your effort.

To be honest, I don't think anyone of us can be 100% sure. HSV web site calls it Sting Red on the current Gen-F, the HSV build plate on my 2008 VXR8 says Sting Red, the current VX website for the Gen-F VXR8 calls it Sting Red. Yet when Dougie listed the VXR8 numbers on the old build register and broke them down by colour, he called it Red Hot. And I believe the VX web site called the E1 VXR8 Red Hot too (can't prove it as the old time machine web site doesn't seem to be working).

So I'm gonna go with Red Hot for VE series VXR8's and Sting Red for Gen-F VXR8's

That fits with the trend that HSV use Sting Red. Wish I could get onto an old version of the VXR web site with the E1 VXR8 brochure. That would answer the question for sure.

Does anyone happen to have an original VXR8 Vauxhall brochure (online or printed)? If you do and wouldn't mind listing the colour choices that would be great.

Here is a huge list of paint codes, use the drop down menu to select manufacturer,

    General Motors Holden A-L.

    General Motors Holden M-Z.

Every paint code you will ever need is on there,

I did but it went with all the other paperwork when I sold my old car. Found an online one:
    http://www.lease2u.co.uk/brochures/C...LL/VXR2008.pdf

    It states Red Hot.

As per your previous comments the Monaro Red Hot is slightly lighter than the VXR8 one. I've had experience with this when the sprayer used the wrong one at first.
