I've got the Green Cotton cone filter, has been on since i bought the car and i've done around 45k in it now. I've oiled it multiple times after washing it and i've never had the MAF issue (touch wood!). Its definitely just down to over oiled filters i believe

I would go with a panel filter

Been using a K&N panel filter on mine since last week- makes a little bit of a different noise that you can hear if you're listening for it. Certainly makes the car run a lot smoother than the standard panel filter 👍

All cones sound the same, there really is no difference at all imo

Panel or cone air filter? I'm leaning more towards the cone filter over the panel filter
Also what brand is best to go for? I've noticed a lot of people are using Pipercross but is it the best one for the car? I've also seen a few people using K&N and green cotton.
The best filter for the car is a standard paper one.

The best filter for performance is an aftermarket panel filter, but still only marginally better than a standard paper one.

Foam (PX/Ramair) sounds completely different from cotton (K&N/Green/AEM/JR).

I bought a green cone filter, best filter I have ever had and has transformed the sound, sounds like a dump valve if that's what your after. Very happy with mine. Loud!
