Default Burg DMF vs lightweight flywheel

    Hello everyone,

I'd like your opinion on this, particularly Burg owners but all VXR mates are welcome. What do you guys think about changing the DMF for a single-mass lightweight flywheel?
What's your experience like? Better or worse? What do you gain and what do you lose?

    Cheers.

Will rev more freely that's for sure at the expense of some chatter

Just make sure you run a compatible clutch that's sprung

How much chatter are we talking about here? I don't like the idea of the car sounding like a bag of spanners for instance. I'm also not too keen on the gear changes becoming very abrupt.

It's not a lot, I've been in a Corsa with one before and it wasn't too shabby tbh

I'd advise against it, the cons outweigh the benefits.

The noise and th potential bottom end failure due to the rattling is enough to put me off.

Money better off spent else where.

I ordered a complete single mass flywheel kit/ clutch and everything and ended up cancelling the order.

I had my clutch kit and lightweight single mass flywheel installed last week. I think the noise is bearable but I have had 3 people say to me 'sounds a bit tappeteeeeeeyeee...'

Revs allot better... but I'm after the track day feel to be honest. The clutch along with my fuel pump make a hell of a racket but I love it

    Worth upgrading!

You could use different oil and rattle will gone, I have this in mine and rattle is minimal. If you want quiet fuel pump you could buy Aeromotive Stealth 340 and you won't hear it at all.

I love the sound of the fuel pump (don't know why). However... I would be interested in lowering the noise it makes, what oil do you use?! Thanks for your help

Interesting mix of opinions here guys, thanks for your input.
If anyone else is interested in chiming in, please do, I'd love to hear about your experiences.
Currently I'm think of just going OE DMF to just finally kill the freaking noise I get every so often that disappears if I press in the clutch.
However, who knows, with enough data/opinions, I may be swayed to go lightweight.

I wouldn't worry about that little rattle you get now and again. It's just the clutch release bearing.

They can be noisy within 1 mile of fitting a new one.

Next time It makes the rattle, put the clutch and select a few gears and it should go.
