    Sounds like the plan from now on then... Just don't understand why Vauxhall said I shouldn't bother... Went back and moaned at them for the previous advice and the then resulting gearbox fault, to which they said and I quote "Well the oil wouldn't cause the box to fail like that. It must be a war and tear fault." He said they would give me 10% off the £1750 they wanted to charge to recondition it...

    Glad people on here give WG a thumbs up! Will be taking it to a specialist from now on, hopefully WG...

    I'd always get a second opinion or advice of here before listening to Vauxhall directly on advice about their own cars luckily I've never had to go to a Vauxhall dealer or garage, it would probably would put me of the brand all together! 99% of people's dealings on here with Vauxhall about a repair or advice under warranty or otherwise is 'Your fault, pay up.'

    After spending the last day or so reading through the Corsa D forums, I am starting to guess that!!

    Me again, I'm going to change my oil tonight but can't find a how to? I'm looking on Astra H but maybe I'm doing it wrong? Can someone point me in the right direction or send a pick of the holes I'm going to be filling?

    Here is the Astra how to;

    http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/sho...ging-gear-oil.

    Its virtually the same - fill hole under the battery tray, drain plug (allen key) toward the rear/bottom of the gearbox.

    Depending on age of current gearbox you may or may not have the oil fill level hole (same size allen as the drain) - you don't you'll need to measure how much to put rather than filling up until it starts to pour out of the fill level.

    Remember to do it with the car totally level - i.e front and back jacked off the ground to the same height.

    Drain hole on the very bottom of the diff casing

    Fill hole just under the battery carrier

    If you put some pipe on the end of a funnel you can save taking the battery and carrier off

    80 is thinner than 90 at high temperature
