    Can even use a c20 bottom end. Will give the car a slightly different sound.

    Personally, if your budget allows, I would go down the rebuild route. Going for a used engine is a gamble, good one and you saved a good chunk of cash, but equally, you could end up with another knackd engine.
    You can set your budget and see what the best spec you can get. Most spend a ton of cash modifying a perfectly good engine. As you have had that decision made for you by your kind engine, you can do the mods now and offset some of the labour costs.
