Its very lightly oiled from new, feel inside the filter and you will get an oil residue on ur hands, outside is normally dry

Does anyone know why the oil is supposed to make it more effective out of interest?

I'm aware of oiled and dry and I've just bought an AEM to replace my ITG which is a bit old a dogged. Just wondered why the oil makes it different.

I think it helps trap more dirt

But kills mafs. Saw a thread on detailing world where someone asked about the filters and oil (detailing world hardly the place I know :/) and a lad said fords don't normally get affected by the oil on the filters, but vag cars apparently do like these astras.
