Most unexpected ones I had were, when I first got my VXR8 LS2, 3 years old with 43k on the clock, the alarm remotes batteries were flat in the spare. I went to my local Vauxhall dealer, who actually claimed to be VXR specialists and Wortec agents. I went into the service department, the car was visible from reception, and I asked for new batteries for my VXR8. The guy on the counter looked at me and asked "what's a VXR8?" I pointed to my car. " Oh, you mean a Monaro!" He said. " No, its a VXR8." I said. He got quite shirty, telling me it was a Monaro. I pointed out that a Monaro is a two door coupe, my VXR8 is a four door saloon. He wasn't having it. Then his college called him over, said something, and he went off looking sheepish. Second one was phoning Vauxhalls UK customer services department asking for part numbers. When I gave them the registration number, nothing on their database. So I gave them the VIN Chassis number..." Oh, thats a 2005 Monaro."

Why would you tell them it is a Clubsport LS3 when it is a Vauxhall VXR8? Surely that can only cause confusion?

I tried to explain when I was told that the number plate did not match the car that it was a vxr8 that didn't work all they kept saying that it was a Bathurst and that it had the same engine to which I replied yes but the Bathurst is super charged. When we got no further on with that I then tried the clubsport. You would think that being a big insurance company that they would have there act up together a bit better. Before someone says why didn't I go elsewhere I have been with the same company for 5years always had a good deal plus once I got in to the problem I wanted to see it through. (nice to see you still keep a eye on us vxr8 guys mik ). How's the Lotus going ? Thinking of a change yet.

Weird - is it listed as a Bathurst on your V5? I guess the insurance co's get their info from DVLA.

Still very much in love with the Evora Eric - no plans to change yet

If your concerned about this, and I think its reasonable to be concerned when car insurance is the issue, give the DVLA a call. Find out where you stand if there is conflict between your DVLA documents and your insurance documents.

    Mines insured as a vxr8.
    Logbook says vxr8.

Maybe time to change your insurer as it seems they are willing to take money for a car they cant identify.

V8, not for everyone but 10/10 for your effort.
