Default Corsa VXR 2010 1st Gear Problem

    Hi all,

I recently bought a 2010 Corsa VXR with 47,500 miles on the clock. Immediately I noticed a problem with gearbox whining in 3rd and 4th and the gear stick moved in some gears as well. I took it back to the garage and they sent it to a transmission specialist who fixed the problem. Apparently, he replaced the gear selector and some bearings. I got it back and the whining and twitching problems had been sorted and all was well for a few day! Since having it back for a few days though, I have noticed sometimes it doesn't go into 1st gear first time. I can be at lights in neutral with the handbrake on, and when they change I press the clutch down and try to select first gear but it won't go in. It feels like it just hits something and it won't go into first gear with usual force applied to the gear stick. I have to release the clutch and then press it a second time and it then goes into first gear no problem.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

I don't really want to have to send it back to the garage again because the first time it took 3 weeks for them to get it sorted and the garage is over an hour away (and 2 1/2 hours on the train!).

    Thanks!

Truth be told this isn't a problem for you to figure out, take it back and have them fix it once and for all.

Tell them to get it booked in, with a courtesy car as you shouldn't be messing with the train - also you'd expect it fixed in a reasonable time which is a day or two max I'd say
