    Exclamation Faulty AFL light :(

    Hi guys

My Burg is in for it's service/MOT etc. It's failed it's MOT due to one of the AFL's doing this.....

    VIDEO HERE

Any ideas or anyone seen this before? I have had a good Google and it sounds like it could be a sensor. Dealership is saying I need to pay £400 for a new unit which is mad. They said they swapped the bulbs round and it still did it. When I took the car in there were no error lights on the dash and the headlights seemed to be fine when I last had them on.

    Thanks

Not so familiar with Corsas, but have ye tried swapping the ballast over to see if that's causing the issue?

Thanks for advice. As in, the control unit for the AFL's? Don't think that has been tried, so will suggest that

So, if anyone was wondering.....spent all day messing around with the AFL light. It's come down to the light not drawing enough power from the car - it's not taking 12V of power, hence why the light is so dim.

I'm sorry but what a pile of garbage! Not even 6 years old and it's failed, a headlight unit should last a lot longer than 6 years. So now Vauxhall want £400 for one.....so much for my lifetime warranty!

What was the outcome of this JPS? Did they replace under warranty, as I was under the impression electrical was well covered.

Hi mate. They did not replace under warranty. It does clearly state on their lifetime warranty website that lighting is not covered. However, I still tried. But they did not want to know.

Vx wanted £400 for the headlight unit. I managed to get one for £260 from Eurowagons - it was the Valeo part rather than the Vauxhall/GM branded part, exactly the same except GM stick a sticker on it and then charge you £200 extra! (Valeo make the part for GM).

Was easy to fit the new one and it didn't even need programming in, which was a surprise.
