    Default Car insurance...

    How old are you,
How many years NCB do you have,
    What do you drive,
& how much do you pay?

All the questions an insurer asks contribute to the cost of a quote based on judging you against the driving history of people with similar profiles.
Postcode can make quite a difference, as can named drivers (wife/husband/partner), annual mileage, any points/fines, the type of job you do etc.

    Very true!
    To give an example:
My vxr corsa costs £160/year comp
My girlfriend has a 1.2 Suzuki swift and pays £380/year comp.
We both have identical driving records, but live at different locations. Her car at my postcode drops to £180.
Having her on my policy reduces my premium, yet her having me on her policy, increases her premium.
Also, the swift costs more to repair, so actually attracts a higher premium.
Some insurers only like low risk, others specialise in high risk, so their competitiveness varies, depending on what business they are looking to attract.
Speed cameras and traffic wardens are a bad idea!

True, some insurers wont touch me as i do door work. I did counter their argument as my car is in a locked secure car park when i do that job and the other work i do with that badge is more like traffic and crowd marshalling but they cried and i could even be in a gate house and they wouldn't touch me. However they were not bothered about me working in a licensed hotel where potentially drunk people could damage my car or the delivery truck could hit it. Its all a joke.
I dread to think what they are going to say when i tell where im doing maintenance at for my next job...
