Default Astra J F40 VXR gearbox oil??

    Hi all,

After reading soooo many reviews on gearbox oil what works and what doesnt, does anybody have a link to buy the recomended gm stuff?

Also from what i read fluchs titan sintofluid FE SAE 75w stuff is also good, if so is this a superior fluid to the gm stuff as i dont mind paying the extra for that? Anybody had personal experiance with fluchs?

    Cheers lads.

This thread explains which GM oil to get and how to change it as well:
    http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/sho...ge-gearbox-oil

As for where to buy it from, I got mine from AutoVaux:
    https://www.autovaux.co.uk/catalogse...lt/?q=93165694

I personally just brought 2 litres from there and chucked the whole lot in (drained first ofc!). No experience with other oils but most on here recommend the GM stuff.

    Hello
    I have A Astra gtc Opc J from 2017 it s the last 2.0bnft.
(Vxr J for Uk) . I see that you changed Oil of f40 Gearbox, I would like to ask you every how many Miles do you it?
Because in Opel garage they didn t know that it s need to bee changed. Yes it s incredible but yesterday they did my first oil changed and when I asked for my gearbox they didn t know that had to be changed 😂😂😂. They look very stupid and unacceptable for a official garage to don t know that because the mr6/ f40 gearbox is very used in Alfa Romeo, Opel, Vauxhall, Saab.
So I will do my self because they re just stupid.
Thanks a lot for what you had already explained.
    Regards from Belgium.

I changed mine every two years.
Filled in 2 litres of Motul Gear 300 LS. Everythings fine. You have to look for the LS because of the drexler limited slip differential.

The general car manufacturers rule is that the gearbox oil at best only ever gets a check at about 100,000 miles...they class it as sealed so never do a change of oil.
Same with power steering and most non engine specific fluids.....even brake fluid isnt changed unless you tell them to do it, they at most might check its water content.
Even the engine coolant doesnt get changed unless you tell them...it just gets a check.
All about money these days and not about the car
