Cool Astra j 2.0 cdti sri changing to astra GTC 1.4 turbo

    Hi Guys,

First time posting on here. I have an astra j 2.0 cdti sri with vx styling pack in red, love the car. Bought it on finance few month ago but things have changed and i do not need a diesel and with the dpf i dont want to have troubles as i now do mainly town driving. So looking at petrol GTC's. I'm only 18 so 1.6 turbos insurance wise are out of the equation as it is double the price ! so looking at a 140bhp 1.4 GTC. What do you guys think? power and economy wise? Currently getting around 37-38 MPG around town with some heavy foot action in my 2.0!

    Welcome to VXROnline

You are probably better off asking this question on a more general Astra forum i.e. http://www.astraownersnetwork.co.uk

This forum is aimed towards the VXR range of cars

1.4 will feel slow after your CDTi and not be as good on fuel.

Personally i'd downsize and get a Corsa (1.4T or CDTI) to retain some mpg and performance.

Will you not loose a lot of money trading in again after only a few months though? You might be better just sticking it out and giving it a good blast every weekend to celar out the DPF.

I have looked at corsas and they look like good little cars but i just do not like them enough to justify paying monthly for one. ive have blasted it now and again but the dpf light has still came on and off and the car has went into limp mode a couple times... i do know what you mean about the power, a remap would be most definite... Tbh i know youre totallly right about mpg, i just dont want a diesel and the trouble that comes with the DPF. Thanks for the suggestion of a corsa. I might have another look into them and make myself like them aha and go for the sensible option!
