In fairness the boss of the garage called me last week and apologised, said that it never should have happened and that its was just bad luck but they will rectify the faults and have my car all sorted by next weekened

    so heres hoping
That is good to hear! Too bad you had to fight so much for it! Hope it gets sorted and you can just enjoy the car!

Ps.: good idea with the haldex service! Those 300£ Is probably a pretty good investment

Brave man! Good to see that your issues with the car haven’t put you off! The people who have had it remapped all seem to be very happy with the extra grunt, especially low-down.

The Thorney map is only a generic from Superchips, and he charges more for it. He doesn't even use the dyno for a stage 1. Save your money and get a Blufin or go to another mapper and get it on the dyno.

So a bitof an update, after thinking all my problems were solved my insignia decided to give up again, so about 7 weeks ago i went out in the morning to go to work, started the car and sounded really lumpy, put it down to cold so went on my way, half way down the A1, engine light pops up so pull into services and call breakdown

When they arrive car barely starts and seems like a major problem so get the car recovered to a local garage and get on the phone to the finance people and the Stealers and start to have umpteen conversations and arguments about the 3rd major issue in 6 months.

I get the car recovered to a vauxhall main dealer who carry out a visual diagnosis and say that based on the fault codes and the issues the timing chain has stretched, now if you have read the other posts about my car you will know that when i brought this car i have had the following issues

1 - Clutch faliure - the Clutch was changed by the garage before I brought It
2 - Haldex Faliure - The Haldex was apparently services by the garage before I brought it

So surprise surprise the timing chain was changed by the garage before I brought it, so I get Vauxhall to create a report and i end up in a 4 week long battle with the insurance company, finance company, warranty company and the dealership about who is paying for the work

Turns out i need a whole new timing chain kit including tensioners, plus new valves, heads reskimmed and god know what else and looks like i may be able to finally pick it up tommorrow asfter 8 weeks

I swear owing a vxr is stressful

Wow! Sorry to hear of all the dramas you are having with your car and especially in such a short space of time. Your car has had all the major problems that can occur with the Insignia. You have been extremely unlucky to get them all. Hope it gets sorted mate and doesn't cost you any more money.

I must admit, i have seen Insignia VXRs going cheap on the internet which apparently have low mileage and are in good condition. In my opinion they are way underpriced for the year and mileage. I think this will be due to recurring problems with those specific cars. That is why they change hands regularly and are far cheaper than a car that has been well maintained. One to be wary off.

Deane. Happy to hear that mate. My comments were not aimed at you mate. That was just in general. Hope your car is goio to you and you get to drive it as much as you want, which is the way it should be anyway!
