    Default AFL retrofit

I am looking at buying a a cheap 1.8 for a winter car that has the factory afl’s fitted. I have seen plenty of retrofit threads and a couple of how to etc but as I will have everything on the 1.8 to swap with the vxr can it be done quite simply? Anyone done this and can offer some advice?

Simply I'd say no mate. Fusebox needs to be able to accommodate it, there's a control unit that mounts behind the glove box, a light sensor that attaches to the rear axle and all the wiring fed through and connected up to accommodate it. Then it needs tech2 to enable the afl function.

I have read through a number of different threads and how to threads and expected as much. Have you done them on yours?

No bud. Came with them from factory. Didn't even realise initially then found out they were a sought after extra.

It's gonna depend what was pre installed from the factory on your car mate. If it's a later model it's more likely to have various looms etc pre installed. Best bet would be to try go to a tech2 specialist like pecky who would be able to tell you what you need. He actually does afl retrofits too I believe.

Power fold mirror looms were pre installed in every model 07ish onwards I believe. That's a simple one, but afl is a bit different

    I retrofitted powerfolds no worries.

Wolverhampton mate. He's on here but not too frequently there days. His website is called tech2 guru. Just type it in and you will see. Select astra h and it'll give you a list of all retrofits he does and what's involved.
