Default Arch rust & Bad alloys

Hey guys, first post here had my 2008 corsa d vxr nearly a year now and due the certain circumstances I havenít had chance to sort a few things out, first off Iíve got two great big patches of rust where the rear wheel arch joins the bumper on both sides, seen a few posts about it but whatís the best course of action to fix this up?

Itís starting to flake and bubble quite badly now

Also who ever had this car before me didnít seem to care about the alloys, theyíre absolutely wrecked, is it going to be better to get the sand blasted and powder coated black or look for new alloys?

Wheels are just mildly curbed/bubbling - powdercoating will sort that out no bother but expect to pay around 200 for that.

I dunno about black...sometimes it looks a bit odd being black on some cars...i'd personally go silver or maybe grey/anthracite buts its your car.

As for the arches, you'll probably need a bodyshop to fix.

Yeah the paints constantly falling off when washing them so itís just a pain haha, I was planning on going black and blue around the whole car, Iíd love Nurburgring alloys but I just canít ever seem to find them 😕

Yeah I was thinking that but I want the paint to actually match and I donít know how reliable some people are, was just wondering if anyoneís had any quotes

Have a search as there has been posts recently about it...i think quotes were typically around 300 quid.

Iíve had mine corsa vxr for years and still looks like brand new , think the rust is just bad ownership same as in most cars, just looking at the state of those wheels says a lot about the last owner, get them refurbed and powder coated black looks loads better and more durable than the lacquer finish , try one of the mobile paint specialists like chips away for the rust might be cheaper

It's not bad ownership it's a fairly common problem on them (although I agree in this case the car hasn't been particularly loved maybe!) mine has always been very well cared for in terms of waxing and paint sealant etc. and it's still crept through on mine.

The bumper rubs slightly where it joins the metal bodywork which breaks through the paint and leaves the metal exposed.

Just luck of the draw I think same with most of the problems on these cars!

It's not just paint rubbing off exposing metal. Primer is porous, so even a stone chip from the wheel which has exposed the primer the primer will be letting moisture through. That's why just like with chips higher up, sealing them quickly with touchup paint or chip repair kits is a must.

Think of it like your body getting a cut in it and needing to be healed, the body automatically seals and heals the wound, but a cars paint can't so you as the owner have to be responsible and do it.

I know touchup paint isn't particularly visually appealing, but it's all about sealing that moisture out lol.

My arches are still good but I have 1 or 2 bits of exposed metal, luckily still good shiny metal. So I'm going to use some bilt hamber hydrate to rust proof it then touch up the wheel arch chips.

My car is in for paint and repair on all four corners as we speak, they wasn't in the best shape when I bought the car but just never got around to getting them done until now. Mate's rates at £70 per corner so all good. Here's pics of before and will update when I get the car back.
