    Default Brake disc's

Just had front brakes skimmed today using pro=cut machine very impressed with the finish and fitted new pads £65+vat for the skimming.

    Hi,
Can you tell me the mileage on your car when you had your brakes skimmed.
I have phoned a garage with a pro-cut brake skimming machine and was told that with 32000mls on the clock I would need new discs rather than a brake disc skim!
All I said was that I had steering wheel judder when braking.
He said the machine takes a minimum cut of 0.4mm(16 thou of an inch) each side.
He also said this would take the disc side down to unacceptable thickness levels!
I am a engineer who on many occasions have machined brake discs a plenty,
As I have not the equipment at my disposal to do the job myself I have to go elsewhere.
The car was bought from new and has not had any skimming done before.
Is this person talking a complete load of Boll**ks.
What is the minimum thickness of the front brake discs?

    Many thanks
    Rich

I believe the minimum thickness is 30.0 mm

I had my discs changed at 29k miles, and there was 1mm of wear on each side. they are 32mm disks and I found somewhere that the limit was 30mm.

Has anyone used Mtec discs? These seem to be the cheaper option to OE .
    They also look the business.

These disc's have done about 20 thousand miles as they were replaced before under warranty. The limit is 30mm I had them skimmed because I was fitting new pads and did not like the lip on the outer edge .
