Default Will Astra IDS+ suspension fit the Zafira VXR?

    As title really.

Been thinking about changing my suspension for a while now as it is getting a bit noisy and every now and then it's having intermittent issues with the IDS+ light coming on randomly for a while and then going off again. The last straw now is that the front struts have totally seized up and the local mechanic doesn't think he will be able to get them off to fit my new springs without breaking the ridiculously expensive IDS+ shocks..

I know some Zafira owners have used Astra VXR suspension so will probably fit but what I'm not sure about is whether with the IDS+ electrics all connected up whether the ECU will say 'no thanks' and throw up loads of fault lights and codes?

There's no way I'm buying new IDS+ shocks from Vauxhall and it seems second hand Astra variants rock up more often than for the Zafira.

Can't see any reason why the electronics would be any different. The zaf uses the same systems as the astra because it's much cheaper in regards to manufacture and part costs to share them.

To me it sounds daft to use same suspension. Engine and electronics and options etc maybe same, but surely the suspension should be the one part that would be different as the zaf is heavier, and hold potentially 7 people. Weird.

Part numbers between the Astra and Zafira are different, but as britishbeef has said, change from IDS+ and turn it off, a lot cheaper.

Thanks guys. If removing the IDS+ what needs to happen with the redundant wiring that is unplugged from the IDS shocks? Can this be removed too or will it have to be left loose?

Can maybe tape it off like vx do with other wires for optional extras etc.

You have to have IDS switched off via Tech 2

Then I'd go in search of some non ids struts or Coilovers

    Ids is pants anyway tbh!

I need to change mine as well. Due to age and mileage I think a fresh set up would be a good idea. I know B14,s are rated on the Astras but what would be good on the Zaf for normal road use. What have others done on theirs, cheers.

If you put standard shocks on, make sure you disable the IDS using Tech2 or similar BEFORE you change over the shocks.
