    Default Astra VXR Cambelt Advice

I'm looking for some advice if anyone would be able to suggest anything..

I am in the process of replacing my cambelt/tensioner/idlers etc and I am struggling to get the belt to fit onto all of the rollers. It seems the cambelt is too tight/short to fit and I'm unsure why? The belt is definitely routed correctly and all timing marks line up etc, just can't seem to get the belt to fit (sounds stupid I know). Also 100% the correct belt kit.

To my knowledge, the belt should go on pretty loosely which is then is tightened by the tensioner - this doesn't seem to be the case with this

    Any help is appreciated

Belt on first. Then the idler on loosely. Tighten idler bolt by hand, then torque it.

I have tried this - which idler would you recommend doing this with? Exhaust or Intake side?

Idler closest to the front bumper as far as I remember.

As above. It’s near impossible to get it on as the manual states.

If you have replaced the water pump you will probably need to slacken the 3 bolts and turn the pump in the block, can't remember which way off hand but you can effectively make the belt route shorter, fit the belt then take up the slack by turning the pump back the opposite day and tighten the bolts, then adjust your tensioner correctly.

I've done one before and it was very hard to get on. Even with everything loose.
