Nice car mate! I’m also a bit sad that it looks like a replacement VXR/OPC won’t be on offer, but I think Opel/VX has given up on the whole sporty halo car concept and gone down the same route as Ford with the Mondeo and the Peugeot 508.

There’s nothing much wrong with Golf R / M140, other than that the roads are around me are full of them.
It’s fun to have something that’s a bit different.

Exactly this! Kudos to you for a unique choice of car. Probably many about who don't know what it is either so even better

I agree. Golf Rs and Audi S3s are all over the place where i live. I also like to drive a car that is not driven by the masses. When i had my Vectra VXR i was the only person in my area with one and now its the same with the Insignia. I am the only person in my town with one and i very, very rarely see another anywhere on my travels.

Have you got the optional bi-modal exhaust?

I looked at both when getting my VXR and they just didn't click for me....M135/140 is nice but i've never really been into BMW and the newer dash with the last minute sat nav etc just doesn't do it for me.
Golf R ...nice dash as such but very generic instruments...seats = yuck...can't stand the cloth finish, just doesn't match the rest of the car.
    Driving wise its fun.
As for VX and the VXR range...i don't think its over...GSi just doesn't work for me and never has. Current / recent SRi models are an insult to the name

Similar in Australia, well not so much the M140i but Golf R had complerely replaced the JDM scene here.

Where there used to be tons of WRX STi's and Skylines, Silvia's, EVO's, are now full of Golf R's.

Better interior, cheaper to insure, and better aftermarket support (which is funny cause Australia's so close to Japan) means all the kids now drive Golf R's instead of the JDM choices.
