    Default HELP!! Misfire... I think??

Astra VXR (07 plate) wonít rev past 4k, the car vibrates horribly and feels like itís hitting a rev limiter. Yesterday I stupidly put my foot down and it did as above but then sounded like it was running on 3 Cylinders, it sounded like a pump engine/scooby 😂 Iím guessing it was in limp mode as it felt like I had no boost.

Changed the plugs today and there was oil on the top part of 2 of the plugs but the bottoms were dry and fine, no sign of any fuelling issues. New plugs have made no difference and the car still wonít rev above 4K. Error codes point towards misfire on Cylinder 4.

I was woundering if it is simply a faulty coil pack and also the rocker gasket leaking?

    Thanks in advance.

Oh I also used stock plugs as this is what the car was mapped to.

Coil pack next step. Check the rubbers for cracks as this is what mine had. Even if there's no cracking on cylinder 4 rubber still give it a change. Just make sure to get genuine oe bosch.

Thanks, it may seem like a silly question but which one is Cylinder 4? When looking at the engine from the front is it the far right one (passenger side)?

Thanks, the rubber boot is broken on the coil pack on the plug closest to the battery so I’m guessing a new coil pack will cure the issue. Thanks!

I’d suggest changing the plugs also. There has been cases that faulty plugs cause damage to coils. Either way, they are cheap as chips.

I have already changed the plugs today, it made no difference. I’ll pick up a coil pack tomorrow and hopefully that will do the job

Make sure you get a Bosch coil pack if not you’ll either be buying a new one in 3 months or you’ll still have a horrible miss fire

Yeah thanks mate. Coilpack today for me but I’m going to change the rocker cover gasket anyway next time I’m off work, don’t want to knacker a new coilpack.

    Good luck with your motor
