    Default Power steering fluid leak.

Hi everyone. Had a search on the forum trying to find someone with a simalar problem.

Went out to my car yesterday. Started her up and the noise from the steering was terrible. Whining when turning etc.

Quickly jumped out and checked my steering fluid and it's nearly empty. 5 minutes later my dad called me to let me know there was a puddle where my car was parked the night before..

I've got it up on a ramp and it looks like it's a burst pipe somewhere down the line, but i can hardly see anything. The pipe has a cover over it and the fluid is coming out the cover so I have no idea where the burst bit is

I'm putting it into the garage tomorrow. But just wanted to know has anyone ever had a problem like this ? I did top up the fluid to see where the leak was and it did stop the noise for around 5 minutes.. but then came back so some fluid appears to be getting into the system.

Thanks everyone. Realised how much I've wrote.. sorry

if its the high pressure hose then a new hose is the only fix but from dealer they arent cheap... some companies that specialise is making hydraulic hoses could rework it for a fraction.
if its low pressure side then it should be easier to repair.... vx had lots of recalls for power steering and the newer fluids dont mix with the older stuff etc without potentially wrecking seals

Thanks for the reply.. I think it's this hose that's causing me the problems. I'm hoping it's an easy fix. Cars going into the garage on Tuesday. (Can't get tomorrow off work) I should invest in a set of ramps lol

judging by the simple clip on one end thats the hose from the oil tank to the low pressure side of the pump.... should be possible to just do a simple repair so long as the rest of the hose isnt perished

Thats the car sorted. It was that exact pipe that had a split in it.

    Thanks for everyone's help
