    Default Wastegate upgrade?

    Anyone updates/upgraded their factory wastegate?

    I found 2 online:

    Kinugawa:
    http://shopping.kinugawaturbo.com/ki...erotd04hl.aspx

    Mamba:
    https://shop.mambatek.com/product.sc?productId=707

I know the oem VXR gives up to 0.9 bar (13 psi), stage 1 tune over here in Oz raises it to 1.24 bar (18 psi)

I was told you pick the waste gate spring to the least amount of boost you wanna run but try to keep it close to 50% of the max boost?

By that logic the Kinugawa Waste gate i'd pick the 0.5 bar (7.35psi) spring

And the Mamba the 0.55 bar (8 psi) spring?

Am I getting the logic right?

I changed my actuator as my stock one was a bit weak and boost was not getting 100% on ODB.

I took the mambatek one, and left the standard spring : yellow one

Very happy with the change, only fitting is a bit painful ^^

The WG spring pressure is of no importance as the WG does not have direct pressure control. The WG opens when the solenoid valve is triggered by a meassured pressure. Therefore whether you use one or the other spring is of lesser importance, as long as the pressure in the system is enough to overcome the spring force. There is no real force acting opposite the spring until the solenoid operates, so just keep with a standard density spring. I replaced mine with a klasen WG actuator, but mainly as the original spring had broken in two. If the original WG actuator is operating as it should, there should be no reason to replace it.
