    Vauxhall make VTEC cars, too; our Viva has only 70lbft (95Nm) and you have to rev all the way up to 4500rpm if you want to try to find the peak torque.

    At times it's frustratingly slow and clumsy - tractors are about the fastest thing you can usually overtake - but it is easy to squeeze through crowded cities, very economical and in a perverted kind of way it's actually quite likeable.

    It makes a good companion for my 2.8 Insignia which has almost exactly the opposite characteristics. But, yeah, the Viva is a VTEC special.
    Insignia Elite 2.8T (2012), Suzuki Swift Sport 1.6 (2016), Vauxhall Viva SE-AC (2016).

    All it really means is variable valve timing electronically controlled.

    I had a Mivec 3 years ago. As I got older and lazier, I went for more torque.
