Default How often does your radiator fan run?

I know the weathers been pretty hot recently but just out of curiosity how often does your radiator fan run? and how high does your water temperature rise too when the fan kicks in? mine seems to run quiet a lot id say every 5-10 mins and my temperature rises to around 105/106 when the fan does kick on,im assuming it shouldn't be coming on as much?

I've been finding the same during this hot weather.
If I'm moving the temperature is stable at 95, although it's getting warmer very quickly and after a few minutes the temperature is rising to as high as 106 for a few seconds. Fan is coming in loads when it's hot outside, kicks in at about 98. It doesn't normally reach these temps, so I have been checking oil and coolant levels, but all at max.
In fact, today the outside temperature was 30 and the engine was at normal operating temperature in about 2 minutes of turning the key.
Speaking to a well respected Vauxhall specialist last week, they said that intermittent temps of that are fine if all fluid levels are normal. He said the new insignia's have 'normal' temps of 110.

If you don't like it get a low temp thermostat, which is what cars in hot climates have.

Cruising your temps will be about 90 and the fan won't come on so often when sitting in traffic, due to the fact the low temp stat opens sooner.

Had the same issue when i first got mine, its more than likely the resistor that goes into the rad just by the coolant bottle.

Get them from vauxhall cheap enough.

Am I right in thinking the vxr has a three stage fan? Or have I read some wrong information somewhere?

yes, 3 stages, but often stage one and two are faulty because the resistor burnes through. I have built in the third resistor pack until now.
And if the two stages doesn't work you often hear the final stage three
Here is a picture of the resistors:

Said resistor in the pictures of how its meant to look and how it looks once its burnt out.

If you type it in on youtube theres also an instruction video of how to fit it. Really easy job.
