Just use genuine parts and you can't go wrong.

Look out for normal things such as oil leaks, swarf in the old oil & filter.
I always replace the sump plug on a new car I get, just out of habit.

Check & replace any fluids you're not sure of, such as coolant, brake, PS & gearbox.

To be fair, these cars are like any other... look after them and they'll look after you.

I have started using Castrol magnatec from euro car parts
Compared the price with GM oil from vaux it was no contest.

Pop the front strut tower caps- may be full with water inside. Dry them out and pack them up with grease.

I always use genuine GM (Vauxhall) parts from either the Trade Club or Autovaux/GPS, good prices. Just did a major services on 2 cars today for less than £150.

As above genuine oil from autovaux is a steal, especially if you have an account there and use them regular.

No need to break the bank on oil, if it's approved, correct viscosity and does the job you're all good.
