Default Brake discs and Pads renewal 27,000 miles

hey all, just had the VXR in for the 4 year major service and MOT at Vauxhall, test past but told my front discs and pads need changing asap. I bought the car from a Vauxhall dealer just under 12 months ago with 19,000 miles on it and Ive covered a mere 8,000 miles with the odd burn nothing stupid. Does this sound a bit iffy, seems a bit soon to me. Also the warranty doesn't cover breaks so I've been told. Cheers dudes

I brought mine 18 months ago on 25k and had to have pads done shortly after at 28k. It's on 32k now and my disks are pretty much done as well. I'm not too crazy with them either so I'd say it was normal.

When the discs are new they are 32mm thick, and the minimum thickness is 30mm,

I measured the discs on my late 2014 car last year at 12,195 miles and they were approximately 31.30 mm thick, so at that rate of wear I calculated they should last me a maximum of approximately 34,800 miles from new.

Mine went in for service & MOT yesterday, past with flying colours it's now on 37300 miles & six years old. New pads on front at 25000 & on rear at 36600 miles, front discs still good for about 5k miles. Did get a price to replace front discs & pads, £1600.

That is ridiculous, front discs and pads on a current RS6 is apparently £1400. How do they justify that price.

the J runs the same brakes as the insignia and aftermarket discs / pads are now available readily . much cheaper than the brembo's too , which aren't all that anyway

Mines on it's original discs at 45000, had a set of pads Feb 2017. Mtec do a set of discs for about 290 each, but as said earlier you can get cheaper, but personally I'd pay more for quality beings as it's a fast heavy lump to stop, but not the dealer prices as that's just a rip off.
