    Default New asking advice etc

    Hi guys

Im a new potential buyer im looking at getting a Corsa VXR for the lads annual Nurburg trip. Over the years ive took MX5's , 106 GTI , Honda Civics and the like but something I feel was missing wich was turbo kicks. I drive a S13 200sx as my daily drift car and I have a AE86 corolla for my track car but im looking for a small hatch , turbo and reasonably comfy for the 12 hour plus drive , can smash a weeks worth of laps then drive home the corsa seems to fit the bill.

With that in mind im pretty set on buying one. Ive read the new buyers thread on here so think ill take it to stage 3 or there abouts (seems straight forward mods ive done on my other cars before) but as im doing track driving / fast road id like some recommendations.

Wich coilovers are best to go for ? Ive seen kits from Bilstien (had on my 106 they where decent) , KW (from experience rust horribly) and BC so fair choice out there.

Wich pad / brake set up would be best ? Ive never been a fan of EBC as there pads go off really quickly and same for DS2500. Is there anything better out there like Carbon Lorraine as ive not seen anyone sell anything like that. Would I be better off pumping for a Brembo set up or a big 6 - 8 pot set ? bigger isn't always better , well that's what the GF says haha

Anyway any help be appreciated just trying to get a bit more clued up on these and know what ill be wanting and to start getting stuff together , thanks.

Why not consider the Corsa VXR Nurburgring or Clubsport in the first place, has Brembo brakes, comes with Bilstein suspension and a Drexler LSD

Yeah that could be a option its just trying to find one wich is in budget as they seem to command a lot more from browsing. Are the Bilsteins adjustable on them too ? The braking and LSD would make a better base to build from though.

Having recently tracked my Corsa VXR, definitely go for the a Burg or Clubsport! The only thing that let it down was the lack of grip out of corners, and being able to slow down for them in the first place!

Noted ill try and pump my budget up a bit then haha

With regards to Tyres ive always used 888's so ill probably go with them again but what is the ideal size , width and offset for wheels for one of these when using it on the track. Not seeing anything really definitive and would rather get it right first time than waste a load trial and error.

This is a VX forum and having just sold 2 Corsas, one with the Bilstein shocks, i've got love for them.

But, if i was looking for a car to hammer for a week on the ring, i'd pick something that handles better and with a better track record of reliability....the corsa isn't bad but doesn't excel at any of those.

I'd stay jap or french if i were you.
