    Default Immobilser

In the process of building an Astra J VXR rally car. Is it possible to permanently disable
    the immobilizer?

not really on the NFT ecu

But you could modify the loom and fit a USA spec Saturn Sky LNF ecu - which can be used without the immobiliser if installed with the HP Tuner software https://forum.hptuners.com/forum.php?

    Thanks, will look into that.

Apart from taking the key out of the ignition, is there anything that is likely to trigger the immobilizer that could potentially shut the car down in mid-flight so to speak? What about removal of any components like the radio or entertainment system - would this trigger anything that would then prevent the car from starting?

you can remove the radio, that does not affect the engine.

I think it's the dash clocks, fuse boxes and steering column which are coded together, the immobiliser is very robust and probably not worth removing

You could remove the steering lock 'pin' for a motorsport vehicle and then use the key as normal, thus no worry of the steering lock coming on

Steering lock pin is definitely on the cards. While it is not compulsory to remove it in the UK, it is here in Barbados where the car will be going to be rallied.

There appears to be a fuse box/junction box in the boot on the left I think. Is any of this tied to the immobilizer. Seems to be a heck of a lot of copper going there that could be surplus to requirement
