    Default Weight reduction

So, with the cage install in the Astra J VXR rally car and the inside about to be painted, a diet is next on the cards. Apart from the usual sound deadening tar on the floor and assorted internal trim that has been removed , are there any other opportunities to shed a few pounds. Rear wiper motor already on the cards, airbags long gone and going down to 18 inch wheels. Wiring looks like the next biggest prize. Is there anything wiring related that can be removed that won't create issues for the ecu.

Out of interest what’s the exact size and fitment required for 18inch wheels so that they clear the breaks ?

Oh and it would be great to see some photos of the work you have carried out.

The car is going to be run in very standard spec.
Mechanically, it is a single mass flywheel with stage 3 clutch, both cats removed as they are not compulsory in Barbados (where the car is going to), and a cone filter to replace the standard air box. We will be running standard suspension to start with.
Rims - a huge guess here, but is maximum diameter allowed by our regs, and is the same size the OPC cup cars run with standard brakes, so they should be fine. The Brembo calipers are quite low profile so don't expect any challenges here.
Car weighed in at 1600kgs plus before being stripped for the cage installation, so anything we can shed from this is a plus.
Awaiting photos from the cage installation and will post as they come to hand.
