    Default remus exhaust

I seem to remember the early 'A's came with a remus from the factory but while I was looking at my haldex on MOT ramp I noted the back boxes on my 59 reg car had GM etched into them , I found this odd as I cannot see why anyone would replace the system ?? I know there are some who have opted for a 3" bore set up but mine is defo the standard diameter even though the centre box, 2nd cat have been taken out , I have the back half of a Miltek system in my shed which im thinking of fitting as I don't feel the exhaust note is crisp enough as it is

It is designed (and possibly built) by remus, but it is an OEM part, so it is bound to have a GM p/n on it.

my first one had Remus stamped into the top of both rear cans pal so I know for a fact they made them for the early cars , im going to take this one off when I get a few mins to see if this has ?

Remus are the OEM manufacturer for the standard exhausts for the Astra, Corsa and I'd expect the Insignia - one being stamped and the other not probably just means they stopped stamping them at some point.

I guess that's possible pal but seems unlikely on a 59 plate car which was built so early on in production

If either have a GM part number on them then they are OEM regardless of other markings

If it has the GM p/n, it is the standard Remus system. no need to worry about the remus markings. Mine didn’t have any remus stamps on it and that was the original system.

hmmm , it just doesn't sound as crisp as I remember from my first one , maybe its the centre box delete that's causing it ?

There are 2 kinds of remus back boxes.

    pre-2011 and 2011+

The later ones are less noisy...

But you're also right about the mid-pipe delete
