    Default Running extreamly rich

Hi,can anyone help my vectra vxr is running so rich it chokes the engine and will not run.All plugs are firing but they are extremly sooty, fault codes are multiple misfires but on the front three cylinders only.So far i have changed both lamda sensors, maff sensor, ecu has been checked, exhaust downpipe leak fixed all vac hoses checked for leaks.Timing chains and gears were changed about 3000 miles ago,it started with a lumpy tickover then gradually got worse to the point that it will not run, there is also a rattle on start up has anyone got any ideas as to what could be the cause?

First call would be coil packs mate. If you swap the fronts and rears (a PITA) and the codes follow then there’s the problem.

What codes does it bring up? Is the car mapped?

Start with the coilpack as mentioned above

But given everything you have checked if the coilpack doesn't cure it, i would be looking at the timing chain

It could have been installed 1 tooth out or the tensioner could have been poorly adjusted and caused it to jump a tooth when running

Only takes one tooth out to throw everything completely out of whack

Just my two cents and I may be wrong but it could be worth checking it out chains are more susceptible to jumping a tooth compared to belts

Did the issues start not long after the chain change

Reading it again somethings come loose you’ll probably have strip it down again to see what’s gone wrong.
    I.e. guide rail or tensioner.

Codes are multiple misfires detected on front three cylinders, the car has not been mapped.

Best advice sir nick150 I reckon something has come loose round chains, so you’ve got the rattle and misfire.
