    Default Faults with my VXR

Okay, so I bought a car a few months back. Tbh I know nothing about cars and the past few weeks I seem to be having fault after fault.

1st Fault - The gear box started grinding when going in to 3rd gear then all of a sudden the got stuck in 4th gear. I turned of the engine but it was still stuck in 4th. After a bit of a wiggle it came free. I have been driving the car occasionally but skipping 3rd gear and it seems fine apart from occasionally getting stuck in 4th very briefly.

2nd Fault - When driving the car, on two occasions the car has gone into limp mode and the engine has shut off. The first time this happened I was told to replace the battery I did but then it happened a 2nd time yesterday.

    Any suggestions?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Never heard of these gearboxes getting stuck in gear before. Might be severely gunked up gear linkage under the bonnet, or maybe some severe bearing damage which may also explain the grinding sound. The boxes are prone to worn bearings and if not replaced quick enough can cause more damage. Need to get it checked out.

Limp mode can literally be caused by anything, broken engine sensors, severe misfires from warn coil packs or spark plugs, turbo vac line issues etc. You really need a garage spec code reader to try to isolate the problem or preferably a vx tech2 specialist.

Not sure were you bought it from. If a dealer take it back for them to look at it / fix it. i presume you have some sort of warranty ?
If not your only option is to take it to a garage someone you know recommends for them to have a look. You can't really drive around with your gearbox fault as it is as you won't find it enjoyable, same for your limp mode fault.
Once it's all fixed you will enjoy it...........they are really nice cars.

I have been recommended a garage in Halifax. That is 1.5 hours drive away thou so I am worried of the damage it will do, or my engine shutting off on the motorway...

Also I have a fault code reader, I will plug it in tonight and see if it says anything.

I was told to do the 'pedal test' and got 5523 which I have since been told is just a generic fault code.
