Take on the challenge
Jun 03, 2008 - 6:28 PM - by Sheriff
Are you passionate about cars? What about your much-cherished Vauxhall? If your weekends are spent working on your prized vehicle, have you ever thought what the next step could be?

There is a big difference between changing a steering wheel and getting behind one. Passion is synonymous with the fast and exhilarating world of motorsport and a nationwide competition is giving you the chance to combine your love for cars and racing.

On offer is a prize worth 80,000 pounds, which could see you become a professional racing driver, taking to the wheel of an Astra VXR in the 2009 Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup, a major feeder series to the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).

Last year, over 10,000 people initially entered the competition and the best took home the... [Read More]

Turn a dream into reality
May 23, 2008 - 12:57 AM - by Sheriff
Do your dreams see you bouncing awake in the mornings to go to a job you love and never having any financial worries, but you do not know how to make them come true?

More than one-third of Britain’s population thinks winning a lottery is the only way of becoming financially secure in life, but sadly your chances of being struck by lightening are higher than winning the millions!

There are few jobs as glamorous and financially rewarding as being a professional racing driver. You are just a click away from the opportunity to get on that ladder. There is a prize worth £80,000 up for grabs, which is a drive in a race car for the 2009 season.

Great Britain, the home of global motorsport, has many racing driver heroes: Lewis Hamilton, Damon Hill and Jack... [Read More]

Why you can be the next Lewis Hamilton
May 17, 2008 - 10:25 AM - by Sheriff
Hardly any career path is as difficult to follow through as the one of a racing driver. Millions dream of it, yet only few are successful. There is one easy step to pursue your passion by taking part in a national competition that is determined to find Britain’s next Lewis Hamilton, and this could be you!

Ambitious wannabe racers generally start of with karting, then with the right funding will continue their motorsport career. But even if you progress it gets more and more difficult to move-up the motorsport hierarchy; there are many highly-lucrative candidates fighting for the same race seat.

A career as a professional racing driver is tempting not only for reasons such as wealth and fame. You can choose your lifestyle; drive supercars and live in

Vauxhall’s star of future bags podium
May 12, 2008 - 10:37 PM - by Sheriff
The 2007 VXR Racing Driver of the Year winner, John Allison, secured a podium finish in his second-only race meeting since winning a competition to become a professional racing driver.

The 34-year-old mortgage consultant finished third in race two at the Welsh circuit of Pembrey yesterday (Sunday 11 May), having only ever raced two weeks ago for the first time in race conditions at the season opener at Snetterton.

“It was a fantastic result and I was really pleased with it. I know I have got the speed and I’m sure it was not my last podium result,” said John, who lives in Beverly, North Yorkshire.

Vauxhall’s protégé proved his pace by qualifying sixth for both races in Saturday’s sessions, which saw the entire field setting times wi

May 12, 2008 - 10:35 PM - by Sheriff
VX Racing returns to Thruxton which has brought the team great glory in recent years for rounds ten, 11 and 12 of the 2008 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) on Sunday 18 May, where the team clinched the BTCC Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ Championship last year in a thrilling season finale.

The Luton-based manufacturer has ranked up an impressive tally of 17 wins since 1991 at Thruxton, leading many to dub the Hampshire circuit “Vauxhall country”.

VX Racing is looking to maintain its season start momentum, having won four races and secured three second and four third podium positions to date. After the BTCC’s last meeting at Donington Park, where the Luton-based manufacturer proved the Vectra VXR’s speed and consiste
