How much brake fluid will i need?

Am going to change the front discs and pads as the insides of the nearside disc is quite badly scored. Am also going to change the brake fluid. Can anyone tell me what amount of fluid will be enough?

I think DOT.4 is standard mate where as DOT 5.1 and DOT 4.1 are upgraded brake fluids.

exactly as red ice said! the dot5.1 is an upgrade and like a pound cheaper so worth it!

To be honest, unless you're running it on a track, DOT 5 brake fluid will cost you more money (even if it is actually cheaper to buy).

DOT 5 is more hygroscopic (ie, it absorbs moisture faster) than DOT 4 so you'll end up needing to change your brake fluid (about) twice as often to keep optimum braking performance.

Stick with a really good quality DOT 4 - if you've got standard discs and pads these will reach their temperature limit way before the fluid does.
Sold - Arden Blue Astra VXR on 19's
Ordered - Pure White Golf GTI on 18's (couldn't stomach paying for 19" tyres any more!)
