  • Standard exhaust

My exhaust has started to churp alot lately and is spitting out a lot of carbon over the rear bumber, is this normal? Also smelt petrol fumes inside the car a few times. Vxl looked at it and found a fuel leak (loose clip) and adjusted the exhaust. However the exhaust is still the same, and they are now saying that its normal to do that. I know some exhausts pop but its not that sort of sound.
Fair play to vxl though, managed to put 70 miles on my car
    Advice please
    Thanks

How many miles do you have on the car now?
I have 11.5k on now and yes, the exhaust does sound different from new. Much nicer sound when given it the beans! More deeper I'd say with a rasp!. It will change as it gets 'coked' up.

I have 3k on the clock. if i rev her up and take my foot off the gas and just let the revs drop it churps. Ian does your exhaust leave a lot of carbon spots over the rear of your car? cheers

Not sure that sounds right. Ours has done 5K miles and although it get a bit of carbon along the bottom leading edge of the exhaust tip it doesn't emit carbon over the bumper.
The Vectra is the worst for carbon on the exhaust tips.

3k - it should be getting nicely coked up by now and begining to sound rather nice!
The exhaust is certainly coked up on mine but the bumper doesn't get messy from the exhaust. I think it did splutter a bit at first but soon went away.
Maybe you could try going to a different dealer and getting them to look - second opinion.

Well had mine for a week and done about 400 miles and i recon it sounds ok better with the boost in hard.
No mess on the back of the cat but on the exhaust tip as you would expect.
the miltek should be here for when i get back off holiday so this should make mine a bit different sounding
